Learn more about the ffcu project...

The 'free for commercial use' (ffcu) photo collection started because of our (slightly obsessive) love for high-quality photographs.

We found that when searching for high-quality images online, we had to usually sift through a lot of trash; so we thought why not try collating some of the worlds best images (under a creative commons license) in one place and make it easier for people to find what they're looking for whilst correctly promoting the photographers.

Bloggers, website owners, small businesses & freelancers can use the ffcu images under the creative commons license and in exchange, they would promote the photographers by linking back to their website or websites. We thought it could be a great way for the photographers to get their names out there, be recognized for their work and have more platforms to display their work to the world. It felt like the only way that both sides can benefit.

We really see 'free for commercial use' or 'ffcu' as a 'help for help' project. The photographers work helps the users to promote their blogs, articles, shops etc.. and the users help the photographers to promote their work.

We hope you find our hardwork of some use, just please remember to attribute the original creators because without them, we wouldn't have these great ffcu  photographs.

PLEASE NOTE: If you use any of the photographs, images or content from "Free for Commercial Use"; You must attribute the original owner of the photographs, images or content by linking back to their original flickr photo page (Photo URL)! (Scroll down on any photo page to find the name of the 'PHOTOGRAPHER' and the 'PHOTO URL').

Please use 'Free for Commercial Use' responsibly and ethically. Do not use someones work without attribution. This is a two way street; Photographers who make their work available under the 'creative Commons' licence are very kind people; please treat them with respect and do not steal their work!

Disclaimer: All photographs, imagery, media belong to their respective owners/creators. All photographs have been embedded with their original metadata to protect the photographers and as proof of ownership.

To find this information; (Click on 'Settings' under 'Additional info' and scroll down to find the original creator.) 'Free for Commercial Use' does not own any of images or content posted on this flickr stream.

Please note that 'Free for Commercial Use' is not a search engine, but rather offers convenient access to media services provided by other independent organizations/persons. 'Free for Commercial Use' has no control over the results that are returned. Do not assume that the results displayed in this portal are under a CC license. You should always verify that the work is actually under a CC license by following the link. Since there is no registration to use a CC license, 'Free for Commercial Use' has no way to determine what has and hasn't been placed under the terms of a CC license. If you are in doubt you should contact the copyright holder directly, or try to contact us and we will direct you to the original owner of the content.

You can use any of the images from this photostream under the caveat that you must follow the Creative Commons Licence Guidelines (as stated by the original creator) and create an attribution link (via us) back to the original photographer.

e.g- Photograph by Laszlo Photo (www.flickr.com/photos/laszlo-photo/8375933995/) via freeforcommercialuse.org

Each photograph has a comment below it with the Photographers name and Original URL for attribution.

Please link back to the original creator/ the photographer (unless they have deleted or disabled the original image, in which case you can then link back to us).

Linking back to the original photographers photo page is the best way to help promote their work.

Use the following format as a template:

Photo Credit:- (Name of photo/ http:link-to-original-creator.com) by (name of creator) via http://www.freeforcommercialuse.org or alternatively, use one of the styles below.

Here are two styles of correct attribution (you can copy and paste this code into your website. Replace the link and name with your own attribution details)

EXAMPLE 1: Photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ag2r/5374109158">Angelo González</a> via: <a href="http://www.freeforcommercialuse.org" rel="nofollow">freeforcommercialuse.org</a>

EXAMPLE 2: Photo by Angelo González (<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ag2r/5374109158/">www.flickr.com/photos/ag2r/5374109158/</a>) via: <a href="http://www.freeforcommercialuse.org" rel="nofollow">freeforcommercialuse.org</a>

This is how they will look: EXAMPLE: Photo by Angelo González (www.flickr.com/photos/ag2r/5374109158/) via: freeforcommercialuse.org >->->->->->->-> OR ->->->->->->-> Photo by: Angelo González via: freeforcommercialuse.org

Tip: You can see how this looks on this page:  this page

You can use this 'html tester' to see how the text would look on your website: w3schools.com (After the jump: Simply delete the text in the left box and replace it with the code above to see the final product)

You can place the links anywhere you like so long as they are displayed on the same page that the photograph is used; Under the photo or at the bottom of the footer is fine.

If you'd like to use the photos in video production, putting a credit at the end of the movie is absolutely fine and understandable.

Put a credit in the description ( information section beneath the video on YouTube); that would be great. It doesn't have to indicate where the photo was used in the movie.

Once the movie is completed and published online, you can send us the link to the video, including all the links to the images used from our flickr stream and we'll will be more than happy to add a link to your youtube video on the corresponding flickr photo pages.
